Purple&Brown Posted: May 6th 2009

' The longest recorded lifespan of a tortoise was 250 years old '

Sources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tortoise

crackingcheese Posted: May 6th 2009

Yeah I doubt 3000 CT|-)

But certainly at least 50 years time;)

Purple&Brown Posted: May 6th 2009

yeh!

crackingcheese Posted: May 6th 2009

lol;)

black Posted: May 7th 2009

lets get this straight!
Dogs chases cats
cats chases birds
birds take a bath in a fish tank
fish bothers turtels and tortoises
turtels and tortoises are hard to give them care
IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE ALL OF THESE IN A KENNEL!!!
plus that kennels is for dogs.

SockEyeSalmon Posted: May 7th 2009

Cracking pets, dear friends, especially the chickens!

If I had chickens (NOT to eat them, of course! Once you give a name to them, you can't possibly pour hot water on the Paxo, can you?), I'd name them:

Licken (as in Chicken Licken)
Madras (as in Indian)
Vindaloo (again, Indian)
Kiev (as in Ukraine)
Jerk (as in Jamaica, for a real Rasta rooster - Ire!)
Mojo (as in Cuba - there is a recipe for Mojo Chicken - yeah, baby!)

Provencal (as in France)
Chow Mein (as in Chinese)
Penny (as in Jewish Penicillin - Chicken Soup)
Mac (after Chicken Run and if any of her eggs hatched, they would be Chicken Mac Nuggets!)

Barbie Q (speaks for itself)
and her friend Ken (as in Ken-tucky chicken)
Foghorn Leghorn (after the cartoon character from Warner Bros)

Set up a coop, away from the Kennel Club! Chickens ROCK!

Many years ago, my now former next door neighbour tried to keep chickens in his back garden... the locals were not too chuffed with the wake up call his 'male chicken' made every morning so he had to - albeit reluctantly - give them to a good home!

My gorgeous collie is called Nutmeg Blue Elvis - or 'Meg' for short!

She's named after a spice (and the colour of her beautiful eyes) and Blue as a 'grateful thanks' to God's mother for helping me find her after my beloved Sage died tragically (Sage was named after a herb, which makes Meg a spice girl tea hee!)

Elvis was added later on because she occasionally curls her upper lip like The King ... also, she's a hound dog!

Ursrut Posted: May 7th 2009

LOL sockeye. I haven't read you for a while. i really should be revising but i don't know why i have to check on the forum. . ah well... i've got my timetable now time to start working.

crackingtoast Posted: May 7th 2009

i have

Loads of dogs for rounding up sheep on the farm. plus a puppy, who's too young to do work yet.
A cat called magic
a rabbit called nibbles, but technicily he is my brothers.
i used to have two hamsters. Hamish and Katie. hamish sounds scottish and katie was short forkatie morag, which is also pretty scottish, despite the fact i'm welsh!

SockEyeSalmon Posted: May 7th 2009

Hi, Ursrut! I've been off and on and busy myself of late - good luck with the revising, dear friend! Not the easiest thing to do but we're all rooting for you...and all of you who are sitting exams at this time. ...revise...rest, tea, walk, revise...and again... rest, tea, walk, revise...

Here is a handy revising tip (if you already know about the next one, look away now):

Buy a packet of those Sticky post-it note jobbies, write down the important points you need - messy for some, effective in the long run - and stick them where you can see them - cupboards, wardrobe door, cornflake box, on the cat! Crumbs ! I wish they were invented when I was at college because I'd excel in the subject all year but I was rubbish at the exams through panic and anxiety. No doubt you have all been helped along with the p and a, whereas I muddled through. Never mind, though - I'm where I've always wanted to be!

The post-it note jobby hint - that's what my sister's friend did to help her through the exams and it worked for her ...she made it to Oxford.

crackingtoast - a farm! Wow! And a puppy! Do all the sheep get up to mischief with the other farm animals?

That is a great name for a cat - Magic. Hamish and Katie hamsters ... again, great names!

SockEyeSalmon Posted: May 7th 2009

Lozi101 - real cool cats!

crackingcheese Posted: May 7th 2009

hehe I might just ty that Sock Eye

SockEyeSalmon Posted: May 7th 2009

Pleae let us know if it has helped you or otherwise, crackingcheese. I know from experience that you can't think straight with a stressed-out, burnt out mind.

Your pets help, too. I saw a piece on the BBC website about how this woman, who owns a rescue dog, takes it to the local primary school and it helps children to read just by being there to pet and/or read to - rather like a therapy dog.

Treasure and love your pets. They help you more than you know - rather like !

Lozi101 Posted: May 7th 2009

great chicken names sockeye!
and thanks, ill tell my cats (as if they dont hear it enough already

here is a picture of my cat who we lost to the railway line back in september

Lozi101 Posted: May 7th 2009

oops here it is

SockEyeSalmon Posted: May 7th 2009

Aaaaaaawwwwwwww! Tom is soooo lovely. I bet you still miss him, Lozi101! Time heals...

I don't think we'd know where we'd be without our pets, which is why I'm flabbergasted how anyone could mistreat innocent creatures.

I posted up a picture of my dog before - here it is again in case you missed her. Here she is... Nutmeg Blue Elvis complete with shopping bag! Enjoy! :)

Fish Posted: May 7th 2009

OK...time to post a picture of my beloved wonder dog, Ralphie!
I've posted a picture of him once or twice already....but I love him so - I can't help myself!:D
