What material for snow did Aardman use to create the BBC One Wallace and Gromit adverts last year?

And if it is possible, where can I get my hands on some of it?

Thanks,

P&B

i've been wondering the same.

shaun the lamb Posted: Nov 8th 2009

I think it's foam, not sure.
I'd like to get my hands on some of it too!

crackingtoast Posted: Nov 8th 2009

i think,unless someone has a better suggestion,it's just the obvious white clay,but that's a wild guess.

Cameronl Posted: Nov 8th 2009

Aardman use small shredded polythene and foam to make snow.;)

shaun the lamb Posted: Nov 8th 2009

I thought it would be foam or as CT said plasticine, I never would have guessed polythene!

Purple&Brown Posted: Nov 8th 2009

Do you know anywhere tha sell it?

shaun the lamb Posted: Nov 8th 2009

well I think for foam you could just use shaving cream (very stupid idea of mine.....)
But you can get things like that just about anywhere.
But it's best to ask some one in your local area that way they can be more speciphic.

You could use Ez-snow or the snow you spray on your christmas tree!

Shaving cream goes hard after a while though stl

If your talking about that fake snow stuff in the cans.
I do NOT recomend it to be honest.
Here is why.
1. It evaperates after a while.
2. It makes you models a bit wet.
I know those from experience.
But anyway, I think the best thing to use is Plasticine or Foam like Aardman use.
I use plasticine in some of my animations for snow.
;)

You must have a different brand because mine is dry and doersnt evaporate,
I susppose it depends on the price and the manufacturer

shaun the lamb Posted: Nov 9th 2009

Well I'd bet you it is different.
I used that snow spray in another country so it might have been cheap.. Ok it was cheap..... but to be honest I was arogant and thought they where all like that.

Purple&Brown Posted: Nov 9th 2009

I already used the fake snow on the set beforehand, it dosent evaporate until 10-14 days and you ca just spray it with some water when it does. It all sunk through my set thoug, thats because the modelling rock wasnt dry enough ( im inpatient like that! ) ButI still have another packet left!

I am still waiting for the set to dry.

And it didnt make my models wet either.
