WALLACE & GROMIT CHAT » LET'S TALK ABOUT SOCKS!!!!!!!
what have you been up to josephine, anything interesting per chance![]()
I, the Sock Eye Salmon, missed you too, oh Fish!
In fact, the Sock Eye Salmon missed ALL OF YOU!!!!!!
I sang the Mintball Chant in the bathroom yesterday - bangs and claps included! - my dog gave me a quizzical look...a bit like
when
gets a flight of fancy!
If we could get a hold of a karaoke version of "We Will Rock You/We Will Sock You/We Want Mintballs", do our own singing...
Ay, up! Supposing we win Creation of the Month - how do we divide the prizes? We can't chop 'em in bits, can we? P'raps a generous measure of Uncle Joe's Mintballs - in
and
bags personally signed by the Almighty Nick P would make it fair, wouldn't it, instead of who gets what and it turns into a heated discussion...OR
... pairs of
&
socks for each person signed by the above Almighty with permanent laundry pen.
Your thoughts are welcome. ![]()
Hi, Conty! I've been doing a lot of work myself and with my colleagues during the past week to make sure that everyting (yeah, man!) will go to plan - it did, thank heavens! As personal things are not permitted by the House Rules on these forums, I can't elaborate much more than what I have just written.
It is getting busier, now that Christmas is a distant memory, and I will continue to be on the Forums as usual -
But don't worry!
There might be a day when you don't hear anything from me but my love for this website (and W&G) is, and always has been, very strong...So, when I miss a day, I won't be goooone for looooong! ![]()
Josephine (aka Sock Eye Salmon) - If we win the creation of the month contest, we could divide the spoils. I mean, I already have a Fleeced game, so if we won that it could go to another contributer who hasn't gotten it yet. The signed mintballs in
&
bags would be a postively magnificent prize!![]()
![]()
![]()
We could EAT the spoils, then, couldn't we????
AND keep the autographed bag, frame it and treasure it for ever and ever...
OK, about the "Fleeced" game - there might be more than one who might not already have the game. So, what do we do? A tie breaker? Could ![]()
invent one, perchance?
I'd stick with the mintballs!
Yours swimmingly
Sock Eye Salmon!
Hmmmm....I think you're right. We'd best ask for our prize to be mintballs in autographed bags. That would be SO cool!![]()
What if
wore a colorful sock with toes on his head instead of a rubber glove?![]()
And
wore the Wrong Socks (mechanical and mismatched, of course.)
would have a "Fleeced" lined sock toupee on his head.
could have just regular socks with a tiny bone print.
's socks would have a hare-n-bone pattern to it. (That one's for you, Josephine)![]()
i've been gone too long.![]()
Didn't notice there was a page 4 when I wrote the previous message. You've all gone on to talk about prizes!
For me, it's just the fun of putting this all together with you all. Bonus would be winning. Extra bonus would be prizes for all!!! Extremely extra extra extra bonus would be a Fleeced game for all of us. Except Fish would get loads of autographed stuff since he already has a signed copy of the game (for which he had to pay an outrageous price because the game is not, as yet, available to us in the US - sorry, had to throw in that commentary).
We want we want FLEECED games!
Fleeced games CLAP Fleeced games CLAP
We want Fleeced in the US!
Fleeced games CLAP US CLAP!![]()
![]()
![]()
Squigly, your altruism is impressive! So are your ideas for socks and W&G! Putting the song together really is great fun, and the prize conversation...well...that was just for fun, too. It would be a "first" for this website to have a team win. ![]()
Meanwhile, I can point out that you've gotten some details wrong about me, and also about how much $$ I paid for the Fleeced game. But since we are forbidden to give out personal information, I can't completely explain. I paid quite a lot for Fleeced, but not as much as others have reported. If you want to know what I paid, I put it into one of the game threads before Christmas, I think. I can't remember exactly how much it was, due to the tremendous joy of having it! ![]()
I love those mental pictures, squigly! Fabulous!!!! Just the job!!!! Love the
!!!!!!!!!!!
SOCK IT TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for the "Fleeced" games - yep...AND the signed bag of mintballs...whoops! Deliver me from the sin of GREED!!!!
Love the "fleece" lined sock for
- EXCELLENT!!!!!!!
cue: guitar riff!
Sheep-themed chants that won't Fleece your budget!

Sock Eye Salmon ![]()
Sock Eye Salmon Josephine,
Great lyrics! ![]()
Here is a picture of the cardinal I saw outside my window the other day.
Hello, fellow Fish! Many thanks!
What a BEEEAUTIFUL picture! WOW!!!! Did you take this yourself?!?! It's a goodie!!!!! Isn't it gorgeous?!! And the colours!!!!
You've guessed it, Fish! I love birds!!!!!
I love animals anyway but birds are brilliant...even penguins!
Did you know that the Almighty Nick P loves bird-watching when he's not making cracking films?! I watched him on a documentary where he was taken to some wetland and he had his binoculars looking at the birds.
I hope Nick P gets time to read the forums - not only to see the skill, personality and talent as contributed by everyone we know and love ...but I hope his eyes catch your picture! It is great!
PS: One of the lovliest Christmas cards I got this year was posted from Canada...and two Cardinals were on it, looking at a nativity scene/crib through a window.
Thank you so much for sharing your picture!
I'm chuffed to a zillion mintballs! ![]()
Thanks for the compliments on the picture, Fish Friend!![]()
I didn't know Nick is a bird watcher!![]()
Right now where I am the weather is extremely cold and gloomy - and has been since the first part of December. There is no colour outside. We got more snow today and it is sticking even to the bark on the trees. But we put birdseed out hoping not only to see the birds, but also to help them find food in this weather. It seems like the cardinal arrives outside my window just when I need cheering up a bit.![]()
It's a cliche, I know, but I can't imagine - where you are in the world - as having snow...I bet you could put away a $ for every person who has said that to you
!
Animals are sensitive - they just know stuff, like my dog. I guess the cardinal is getting to know you pretty well, Fish! You two might not say much - a smile and a chirp, p'raps - but that's the comfort in the company.
Funny you should mention putting out the birdseed, I've filled my bird feeder and it's a joyful sight to watch them feed. They take it in turns to get the seeds, which impresses me. Do the birds you see do that? Queue up? P'raps it's just the British birds (kidding!) ![]()
I hope you've got your socks on, Fish, with the snow sticking to the tree bark. It must be cold out there.
Wrap up well!
Sock Eye Salmon![]()
![]()
I found the scene where Gromit's cheeks are full of Korn Flakes - brilliant!
Thanks for telling me where it is, Josephine!
It is much warmer here than where I lived before. Up there the local average snowfall was 283 inches a year! And it would be WAY cold!! I can't say I miss all of white, fluffy stuff!![]()
Fish did you live in the 49th state? Can't imagine anywhere else in the US with that much snow. We have snow here too, but it's only on one of the islands, at the very top of one of the volcanos. BTW...great pic of the cardinal. It's such a brilliant red. Was that a wide-angle zoom shot?
Josephine (I mean sock-eye) great lyrics. Thanks for helping us rally some support for shipments of Fleeced to the US. Hope Aardman could hear all our chanting and singing! ![]()
![]()
Fish, I remember that thread re: the price. I was the one inquiring about the cost. I think you paid more than $70 US bucks after adding in the shipping. That's equivalent to a little more than six rounds of Wensleydale cheese!![]()
This thread is going to the birds (teehee)![]()
No, squigley. I had a friend who lived there, and then moved to where I used to live and he said that there was far LESS snow in the 49th state. I can give you a clue, I think. Do you know where "Yoopers" live?
One of the small towns in this area is listed as having the shortest growing season in the continental USA. 55 days!
OK - so you know that the shipping price varies. Sometimes you can find an eBay seller in the UK whose shipping charges are lower and listed along with the starting bid. I found, for example, that I could get the W&G comic from a seller in Iowa and the charges were minimal.
wow what a lovely picture, i would love to have birds like that visit my garden, the best one on my bird table was a woodpecker, weve got a couple of peacocks around but they are a pain although beautiful when they fan their feathers, they tend to sit on the car and scratch it
, so im not always pleased with them![]()
Thank you, Josephine! We've all missed you!
You are very kind as always, Mark the Shark and all you lovely people!!! I have been fitting in my forum responses between making calls and stuff for the best part of the day...
I've responded to Jordan's campaign to bring back the BBC Three blobs and I'm working on more alternative lyrics to suit the dynamic duo's adventures.
Sock Eye Salmon
(The albino one that ain't pink!) ![]()
Socky Eyed Josephine, Mark the shark, conty, Squigly, cinders1,
Here is another picture a friend sent me. It is of birds too, but it looks like a smile in the sky! ![]()
Is Sock Eye Salmon a relative of Pink Eye Salmon?![]()
Cousins, perhaps? I don't think they see eye-to-eye on a lot of things.
cinders, don't you find the peacocks to be rather noisy too - especially the males?
Fish, I found it! You used to live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan! (I think it's alright to say that since you no longer live there.)
"Yooper is a form of North Central American English mostly spoken in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which gives the dialect its name (from UP for Upper Peninsula, or UP-er)."
Never heard of that term before. Learn something new everyday. And right here on the
&
website! I can't imagine averaging 283 inches of snow. Isn't that more than 20 feet? That's about as high as a two-story building! Must be all that wind blowing over the lakes onto the Upper Peninsula. Well, it's a good thing you moved to someplace warmer!
squigley, they sure do make a niose, its almost like a scream, theyre not about at the moment as its winter here, they tend to roost up in the trees in the wood, but a bit of sunshine and they will be about terrorizing the old folk in the village, raiding their allotments and slipping in their greenhouses, and they eat everything!!!!! never mind curse of the ware rabbit, weve got the curse of the village peacocks!!!!!!![]()
Yup - I was a Yooper!
The term also refers to the people who live there. Where I am now seemed like the Bahamas at first - so HOT in the summer (often over 100 degrees in July and August, and incredibly humid!) In the U.P. the temperature never got over 80 and it was always cool at night.
I still slip into Yooper dialect now and again...
Hi Cinders1!![]()
Sock Eye Salmon is a distant relative of Pink Eye Salmon!
We are not on speaking terms because of the colour of my cousin's eyes. Pink doesn't make me wink - it makes me reach for the sink!
(Cerise is a better class of pink - deeper and less sickly than your average pink)
So Pink Eye Salmon told me to "go and jump!"...and I did! Into the laundry basket where I found...A SOCK!!!!![]()
We do see eye to eye - rather like boxers when they psyche each other out at the weigh-in!
But we are near to a peaceful solution...and it sounds very tasty after a grillng... ![]()
Sock Eye Salmon
Hehehe! As I said in the other forum Josephine you should upload a story on here! It would be great!![]()
I am not mad about socks, but I do like them!
I have cow socks(bed socks) amd they have bells on!
I used to have socks with SpongeBob on them! But they were tiny!![]()
Cool socks, Dancing Shauny99 - cow socks with bells! Spongebob socks, Mark the Shark! If they got wet, did they hold all water?!?! (kidding!)
I have Guinness socks, too. I can't drink 'em, though!
I have Bagpuss socks ... but they are PINK!!! I think the darkened room therapy has worked a treat after my rabble rousing on the "Save the BBC Blobs" thread...but they are CERISE - a darker, classier shade of pink, you understand.
I'm going for some jolly roger socks next week - skull and cross bones - and, if there is another pair of
&
or even
and
- I'll buy them, too!
Sock-eye, what do you think of cinders' Curse of the Village Peacocks? I feel another story brewing.
I can just see those Peacocks cursing at the villagers for extending winter another three months. "Now how are we to get our supply of peas, @#!%!!" cursed the angry cocks and hens.
I also heard that your cousin Pink-Eye Salmon was dating an opthamologist. He fell for her big time after treating her eternally pink eye infection.![]()
![]()
Hehehe, good one Josephine.![]()
Have we stopped talking about socks? ![]()
I have some wonderful Christmas socks - toe socks! ![]()
SOCKS!!!! YUCK!!!! Who wants to talk about, boaring, yucky, stinky, smelly, ratty, rotty, holey, moldy, disgusting ,sweatty old gym socks? YEEEEEEEEWWWWWW!!!!!!!!
sock's reek
Secretagent, if you don't want to talk about socks, why are you? I suggest that you don't. Move on to a thread you enjoy. And since you and chess gromit have such awful socks, I can understand why you would not want to discuss them. So leave our sock thread in peace before it unravels!![]()
![]()
SOCKS ROCK! SO THERE!
Thank you, Fish!
Judging by the descriptions given by the anti-sock brigade, they might not know what a washing machine - or a box of laundry powder - looks like.
GREETINGS, SOCK LOVERS!
Harry Potter today,
&
tomorrow!
My socks are clean and fresh - and I bet yours are, too, Fish! ![]()
Jolly Roger socks, here I come!
SOCKS! SOCKS! SOCKS! SOCKS! SOCKS!
i tell you something fish your socks probably smell of FISH!![]()
Oh, by the way!Boring is spelled B-O-R-I-N-G...
Nothing to do with hairy pigs with tusks!
I thought James Bond had a dictionary... ![]()
Chessygromit - would you say the same to someone who wears a "kipper tie" ?![]()
Cinders, do you really have peacocks where you are? ![]()
Sometimes we have wild turkeys here, but no peacocks! The turkeys travel together in a long queue - so it isn't just British birds that do that, Josephine! ![]()
We also have deer that come and eat everyone's veg in the night. We need Antipesto over here! ![]()
and fox's
Chesy gromit, do you have foxes where you are? I've seen a few here. Once there was a fox den with baby foxes in my friend's yard. They moved away though...the foxes, I mean.![]()
yeah there are actually load's here
What colour are they? Ours here are red. But they are grey I think in the western part of the country.
preety much the same here except i can't say i've ever seen a grey one
fish, rumour has it a villager.. (after a few too many tottis i expect!!) purchased a couple, but soon got fed up and let them go, they have been around now for about 7 years terrorising all the old folk and their allotments, there is lots of wildlife here, fox's,buzzards, badgers, deer, and millions of rabbits, and the farm across the road has turkeys too but only for christmas the poor things![]()
